ADDIS ABABA, May 18 (EI) — Ethiopian Ministry of Health on Monday reported 35 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of positive cases in the country to 352.
From the total of 1,775 laboratory tests conducted within the last 24 hours, 35 of them were confirmed positive for COVID-19, eventually bringing the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Ethiopia to 352, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health disclosed on Monday.
The ministry also disclosed that 116 patients who were tested positive for COVID-19 have so far recovered from the virus.
The ministry has previously disclosed five patients have died due to COVID-19 related illnesses.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), has so far conducted 59,029 COVID-19 laboratory tests on individuals with possible signs of COVID-19 as well as direct contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients, it was noted.
Ethiopia confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Since then, the Ethiopian government has instituted a wide range of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
