The vital road infrastructure was inaugurated in the presence of Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh and the Ethiopian Minister of Transport Dagmawit Moges on Wednesday, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed in a statement issued on Friday.
Djibouti’s President said during the inauguration ceremony that “the road would speed up the processing of potash and other commodities through the Tajura Port which is expected to be fully operational soon,” the statement quoted Guelleh as saying.
Dagmawit also noted that the 80-km road that connects the port city of Tadjoura to the northeastern regions of Ethiopia “will have a significant impact on the social and economic life of the locals,” according to the ministry.
