ET to commence four weekly flights to Bengaluru – India’s Silicon Valley

ADDIS ABABA: July 31 (EI) — Ethiopian Airlines Group (ET) disclosed on Wednesday it plans to start four weekly direct flights to India’s Bengaluru, dubbed India’s “Silicon Valley,” as of in October this year.

The Ethiopian flag carrier, in a press statement sent to the Ethiopian Informer on Wednesday, disclosed that it will start four weekly direct passenger flights to Bengaluru as of October 27, 2019.

The capital of the Indian state of Karnataka, Bengaluru serves as the center of technology and innovation to the world’s second populous nation.

“Ethiopian Airlines is a significant player in connecting India and Africa and beyond. The new four weekly flights will connect the important ICT hub city of Bengaluru to the ever-expanding Ethiopian network,” the statement quoted Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam, as saying

“The new Bengaluru flights will complement our existing dedicated freighter flights to and from Bengaluru,” the CEO said.

Bengaluru is also said to be ET’s third destination in India, as the airline presently flies twice-daily passenger routes to Indian’s capital New Delhi and the country’s commercial center Mumbai.

ET also operates cargo flight services to the Indian cities of Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi.

“The increasing flight frequencies and number of gateways in India will facilitate trade, investment and tourism to and from the Indian sub-continent,” Tewolde said.

Ethiopian Airlines currently flies to more than 100 international destinations making it one of the largest air carriers in Africa.
