Ethiopian joins int’l carriers to serve Liverpool, Tottenham fans attending Champions League final

ADDIS ABABA: June 4 (Ethiopian Informer) – The Ethiopian Airlines Group said its pleased to have served fans attending the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid, Spain’s capital, as the two British football clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur vie to claim Europe’s most prestigious football trophy.

Ethiopia’s flag carrier, in a statement issued late Monday, said that it has deployed three chartered flights from London, Liverpool and Manchester carrying the fans to Madrid, where the UEFA Champions League final was held on Saturday night as Liverpool won the match 2-0.

“Ethiopian Airlines is delighted that the supporters of the football teams enjoyed the features of its latest aviation technology aircraft along with the airline’s award-winning customer service and the overall travel experience,” an Ethiopian Airlines’ statement read.

The airline, which has seventy plus years of operation, also expressed its praise to the fans for “choosing and giving us the opportunity to serve them.”

The SKYTRAX certified Four Star Global Airline is considered as ‘the largest Aviation Group in Africa.”

Ethiopian airline commands the lion’s share of the Pan-African passenger and cargo network with the latest fleet that include Airbus A350, Boeing 787-8, Boeing 787-9, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-200 Freighter, Bombardier Q-400 double cabin with an average fleet age of five years.

Ethiopia’s flag carrier is currently implementing a 15-year strategic plan, dubbed Vision 2025, which will see it become the leading aviation group in Africa.
