Indonesian unveils grant scholarship scheme to 100 Ethiopian health students

ADDIS ABABA: September 27 (EI) – The Indonesian Embassy to Ethiopia on Thursday unveiled a new grant scholarship scheme that aimed to offer free undergraduate education opportunities for 100 Ethiopian students as of next academic year.

The newly unveiled scholarship program by the Indonesian government is said to be provided by Nazhhatut Thullab Foundation during the upcoming 2020 and 2021 academic years, in which 100 Ethiopian scholarship winners will be able to join the Nazhhatut Thullab health institute boarding school, according to the Indonesian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Albusra Basnur.

The Embassy, in a statement issued on Friday, said that the grant is “part of Indonesia’s attention and contribution to enhance international cooperation, particularly in the field of nursing education in the context of strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.”

“Scholarship program from Nazhhatut Thullab Foundation for Ethiopian students is a new breakthrough that needs to be appreciated and emulated by many parties in Indonesia,” the Indonesian Embassy to Ethiopia said.

According to the Ambassador, the grant scholarship scheme depicts that Indonesia’s relation and cooperation with Ethiopia is very close and strong.”

The Ambassador also noted the prospect for further strengthening the Ethiopia-Indonesia cooperation across various assortments of areas, mainly in the field of nursing, especially in capacity building, medical equipment, and medicine for hospitals.

Basnur further reiterated the Indonesian government’s strong commitment to support the improvement of Ethiopia’s healthcare provision efforts.

It is to be recalled that a delegation from members of the Indonesian parliament have visited Ethiopia earlier last week, aiming at sharing experience and enhancing partnership and discussed with their Ethiopian counterpart. Meanwhile, the Embassy also revealed its plan to commemorate the 74th anniversary Indonesia Independence Day.
