ADDIS ABABA (EI) — The Ethiopian government has announced that the country has generated a record more than 8.7 billion USD in export revenue during the past 10 months, driven by strong performance in major export commodities.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the East African country earned 8.71 billion USD in export revenue during the first ten months of the current Ethiopian 2025/2026 fiscal year, which started on July 8.
The ministry highlighted that the reported export revenue during the first ten months of this fiscal year has already surpassed the country’s total annual export earning during the previous 2024/2025 fiscal year, which was said to be 8.3 billion U.S. dollars.
Data from the ministry also showed that the East African country’s average annual export revenue has recorded a 34 percent growth over the last five years period.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed recently said that the country’s economy is projected to grow by 10.2 percent during the current fiscal year, which is closely aligned with the projection of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Abiy highlighted positive performances across various economic sectors, such as in the export trade, foreign direct investment, agricultural productivity, and the mining sector, among others.
