ADDIS ABABA (EI) — Ethiopia and France have signed key bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening the two countries’ cooperation in energy and digital transformation sectors.
This came as part of the French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit to the East African country on Wednesday, where Macron and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presided over the exchange of key bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening the two countries’ cooperation, the Ethiopian PM Office said in a statement.
Among the agreements exchanged was a 54.6 million Euros agreement for the Renewable, Integrated, Sustainable Energy and Digitalization Program, designed to support Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts in expanding sustainable energy access and advancing digital infrastructure development.
The two sides also agreed for the development of a 150MW geothermal project, marking further progress in collaboration on renewable energy investment and long-term energy security initiatives, it was noted.
