ADDIS ABABA (EI) — The Ethiopian government has reported that the country’s key public infrastructures and institutions have faced over 50,000 cyber attacks this year.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Ethiopia’s Information Network Security Administration (INSA) revealed that the East African nation successfully thwarted 99 percent of the total 50,155 attempted cyber attacks during the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, which began on July 8.
According to INSA, intrusion attacks constituted the largest portion of these attempts, making up 41 percent, or 20,601 of the attacks.
The agency noted that Ethiopia’s active participation in the BRICS Cyber-security Cooperation Forum and other international platforms has fostered new partnerships and showcased the country’s capabilities in cyber security.
