ADDIS ABABA (EI): Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party has lauded the “impressive performance” in the country’s major economic sectors amid positive overall growth trajectory so far this fiscal Ethiopian year.
In a detailed statement that was issued shortly after the conclusion of the Prosperity Party’s latest Executive Committee meeting, the party said Ethiopia’s major economic sectors have registered notable improvements during the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, starting on July 7, 2024.
According to the statement, the country’s overall economy is in pole position to expand by 8.4 percent as initially planned for the current 2024/25 fiscal year.
It said the industry sector is expected to grow by 12.8 percent, manufacturing sector by 12.0 percent, construction sector by 12.3 percent, service sector by 7.1 percent, and the agriculture sector by 6.1 percent.
However, the PP Executive Committee stressed that albeit the country’s economy is growing, “it is not growing at our desired rate.”
It said the positive improvements observed in the agriculture, industry, urban development, exports, mining, service, digital economy, and other sectors are indicators for the country’s growth potential and trajectory.
