ADDIS ABABA: The Ethiopian Ministry of Health on Thursday announced that the country’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 91,693 after 575 new cases were reported.
The ministry in its daily COVID-19 update said that the 575 newly reported cases were discovered out of 6,676 COVID-19 medical tests in the east African country conducted in the last 24 hours.
Ethiopia, which confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13, has so far conducted 1,423,505 COVID-19 medical tests so far, which is said to be one of the highest in the African continent.
The ministry also reported 12 new COVID-19 related deaths that were recorded during the last 24-hour period, as the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country reached 1,396 as of Thursday.
The ministry said that some 45,260 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 had recovered so far, including 754 in the last 24-hour period.
The ministry also said that a total of 45,032 COVID-19 patients are still undergoing medical treatment, including 306 in severe condition.
