ADDIS ABABA: The Ethiopian Ministry of Health on Saturday announced that the country’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 88,434 after 600 new cases were reported.
The 600 new cases were discovered out of 6,548 COVID-19 medical tests in the east African country conducted in the last 24 hours.
Ethiopia has so far conducted 1,390, 197 COVID-19 medical tests.
According to the ministry, the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country reached 1,346 as of Saturday, after nine new COVID-19 related deaths were reported during the last 24-hour period.
The ministry said that some 42,099 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 had recovered so far, including 471 in the last 24-hour period.
The ministry also said that a total of 44,987 COVID-19 patients are still undergoing medical treatment, including 299 in severe condition.
Ethiopia confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13.
