The accident happened in Ethiopia’s Southern regional state’s Dawro Zone on Thursday afternoon when a passenger bus carrying about 104 people traveling in a dangerous road overturned and fell into a cliff, eventually leaving 5 people dead while some 99 others also sustained serious and minor injuries, reported state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC).

Noting that the cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the police, the official also indicated that the injured passengers are presently receiving medical treatment in nearby health stations for light and heavy injuries.
In recent years, Ethiopia has witnessed deadly traffic accidents, in which the Ethiopian transport authorities often attribute such incidents due to the country’s poor and dilapidated road infrastructures, drivers’ negligence as well as poor road traffic enforcement.
According to figures from the Ethiopian Transport Authority, more than 5,100 people have lost their lives due to traffic accidents last year across the country.
